Agadez is the gateway to the Nigerien Sahara. Its old city, dominated by the banco minaret of the Grand Mosque, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The region is home to the Aïr massif and the Ténéré desert, and hosts the Cure Salée festival at In'Gall every year.
